Piccadilly Circus, London (England)

Piccadilly Circus is actually a street juncture and an open space for public use of London's west periphery in the famous city of Westminster. It was opened in 1819 to join Piccadilly with Regent-street. Piccadilly Circus, London now connects Shaftesbury Avenue and Coventry Streets as well as the Haymarket. It is surrounded by many important shopping and entertainment outlets in the west. The juncture is famous for its neon signs and video broadcasting mounted on a corner building on the Northern side of the circle along with the Shaftesbury memorial fountain and statue.

The corner-most building on the northern side of the road is laden with large display boards to advertise various products along with the neon illuminated lights. Many famous companies have displayed their advertisements in this place. Companies including Coca-cola, Hyundai Motors, Samsung, McDonald's, Vodafone, Kodak, Burberry and others advertise here.

Piccadilly Circus Highlights

Located at the center of the amazing attraction, the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain was built in the year to commemorate the work of the famous philanthropist, Lord Shaftesbury. At the top of the fountain is the statue of the Angel of Christian Charity. This Piccadilly Circus statue is now called as Eros.

Along Shaftesbury Avenue is the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! Museum, which is visited by a huge flock of tourists every year.

Besides that, the London Pavillion, the Criterion Theatre, and the popular Lilywhites department store are also amazing attractions one must visit there.

However, getting clicked underneath the lights of Piccadilly Circus at night is one of the must-do activities for every tourist.

Vishal Thakur was our co-ordinator from Knowravel Holiday Services. From day one to trip completion, he was always there assisting us, guiding us and answering our queries. As we were flexible with our dates, Vishal found us a very good deal on flights which reduced our travel budget by half. Overall package quote was very reasonable compared to the other agencies. He assisted us well for our UK and Schengen visas. The hotels where we stayed were very good and well connected for transport. When I landed at Heathrow Airport cab and the cab driver, arranged by you for which I already paid and included in the package demanded 55 pounds more and I was made to pay that amount to the driver. This was informed to Mr.Prashant your contact person at London. He said he will check and do the needful. Paras from Hub Holidays was my travel planner. He had made a good package keeping in mind that my mother and me were travelling together and this was our first trip to London. With regards to Hotels, both were good and located in the center of the city which made a lot of sight seeing attractions accessible by foot for us. We got UK package for 6 nights and 7 days from CRED. And it was the best decision of Travel triangle to assign my trip to be arranged by HubHoliday. Hubholiday are too good in planning and customizing the trips especially Yeeshu who plans itinerary has been diligent in doing so. Also post booking the service they provide is much better and should be appreciated. I immensely thank Mr. Prashant Daroch & Mr. Shubham Gupta for having taken keen interest and booked out tickets meticulously, our Hotel bookings were done taking into consideration the closest distance from the station, so that it was within the walking distance, the guided tours and also the pick up from the Airport in Rome, the trip to Amalfi Coast covering Ravello, Positano & Sorrento, guided tour to Pompeii from Naples, the tour to Pisa from Florence were superb. All the inter city transfers were booked by trains & there was never a hitch i.e., transfer from Rome to Naples, Naples to Florence, Florence to Padova. Even the "Hop-on & Hop-off" bus tickets were booked in Rome and it was very convenient way of seeing the place at your convenience & added convenience was that the boarding & ending points were close to our Hotel (within walking distance). The Hotels booked were very good and made our stay comfortable in every way be it food, the cleanliness & a always ambience. Mr. Prashant & Mr. Shubham were always very courteous & did their best to help us out with our itinerary , tickets, hotel booking, tours, train tickets etc and also my invoices were provided. In all our group of eight people has a fabulous tour which will forever remain etched in our memories. A wonderful job by Mr Prashant & Mr. Shubham. The duo really deserves accolades. Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and public space of London's West End in the City of Westminster. It makes for an ideal destination to visit a plethora of places like Chinatown, Soho's theatre district, Oxford Street shopping area, Leicester Square or Trafalgar Square. You would be amazed to know that other prominent attractions like Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben are all within the walking distance.

 

 

Most of the Piccadilly line is underground with the Piccadilly Circus station located right beneath the Piccadilly Square. It is partly a deep-level line, with a number of surface sections, mostly in its westernmost parts.

Connected to a thoroughfare, called Piccadilly, that appeared in the year 1626, it derived its name from a house belonging to a popular tailor who used to sell piccadills and other kinds of collars.

The statue at Piccadilly Circus is called by the name of Eros. Depicting an image of a beautiful winged archer who has poised with his bow, it had been erected in the 19th century to commemorate the philanthropic work of Lord Shaftesbury.
